I am very thoroughly impressed with Eddie Merlot's in Sterling, VA. The prices are a bit higher than I'd like, but the food, service, and ambiance are all excellent. Even half-full the restaurant was quiet enough to have a pleasant conversation around a table for 8 without raising voices! That is remarkable in a world where most places are so damned loud you can't hear yourself think! The potstickers/dumplings and ahi tuna wonton appetizers were both amazing. The New Orleans Mixed Grill (filet mignon, andouille sausage and grilled shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes) was fantastic. The house salad was big and good enough even if not remarkable. I had no room for dessert, but others at the table had very delicious looking and smelling bananas foster. Our waiter, Eric, was awesome and funny and attentive.
William was awesome!!! Great hospitality, timely deliveries, and explained many dishes!! Thank you!
My husband took me to Eddie Merlot's for Valentine's Day and overall we had a pretty good time. Our reservation was for 9:45 pm, but given that it was a little bit of a drive for us, we decided to give ourselves a few extra minutes so we left early, arriving approximately around 9:10 pm. We checked in early at the front, letting them know we knew we were really early and that if it was ok we just planned to have a drink at the bar. The hostess checked us in and notified us that all the reservations were running a little late, but that they'd try and get us in as close to our time as possible. We honestly weren't that bothered by it, we were happy to have a drink or two while we waited. I cannot remember the name of the drink I ordered but it was something along the lines of a cherry Moscow mule and it was delicious. It was sweet, tart, light and refreshing, and the ginger beer paired with it was such a great choice. Interestingly, we were actually seated at 9:41, 4 minutes before our reservation, but even if we were seated late, we would've been ok since we were having a great time at the bar and the bartender was a joy to talk to. We were seated in one of the side rooms and shortly after our waiter stopped by to check in and let us know that they would do their best to accommodate us in a timely manner but that reservations have been running late and the kitchen has been a bit behind. We thanked him for his honesty, as he was correct, our food took a little over an hour to come out. Regardless, we enjoyed ourselves and the food we had was delicious. We started with the calamari which was good. It wasn't chewy and over cooked like calamari often is. It came with two delicious dipping sauces, slightly different than your typical marinara like sauce, and we enjoyed them. Everyone kept recommending the marinated ribeye so we just had to give it a try. Of course we both ordered it, which looking back we should've ordered different things so we could try two entrees, but we were pleased. The ribeye was cooked perfectly (I ordered medium), and it had a nice char on the outside. It was very tender and the marinade was great. We also got sides of mashed potatoes, loaded baked potato, and mushrooms. All the sides were also delicious. I especially loved the mushrooms which were nicely sautéed and lightly seasoned, without losing their natural flavor. We ordered the chocolate cake for dessert which we took to go since it was getting late and we had to get home, but this was such an amazingly rich, moist, chocolatey cake. I definitely recommend it if you're a chocolate cake lover like us. They also brought us chocolate covered strawberries which I thought was very kind of them, and were also delicious. I noticed not many people commented on the attire so I wanted to be sure to mention it for others. While this is considered a steakhouse, you will see some people dressed in nice jeans and polo T-shirts, as well as others in suits. Some ladies were wearing nice jeans and casual to dressy tops, while others wore dresses paired with fur coats. My point is, there's a vast array of what you could wear, and I think as long as you aren't wearing clothing that's too revealing or has holes, and isn't sports wear, you should be fine. Overall, we did enjoy our dinner. It was a bit on the pricey end, but at the end of the day, we enjoyed the food and had a great Valentine's Day dinner. It was a bit of a drive for us, but I'm glad we gave it a try and if we lived closer and it were more convenient, we would probably go again.
This was my first time going to Eddie Merlot's and I had an enjoyable experience. We were able to get a last minute reservation 2 hours before and the person that we spoke with on the phone was accommodating. When we arrived to the restaurant, our waitress was very attentive and we appreciated all her recommendations and took her up on a few of them. We started out with 2 appetizers, the crab cakes and tuna wontons. My favorite was the wontons, they were delicious. The crab cakes were not worth it for me because it was more stuffing and less crab. For the entree, I chose the Chilean sea bass with a portion of the mash potatoes. The sea bass was amazing. It was so soft and melted in your mouth. I also appreciated the fact that in the area we were seated there was a certain dress code. The decor was also unexpected but it gave the restaurant a nice touch.
My experience at Eddie Merlot's was quite pleasant. The ambiance, the staff and more importantly the food was excellent. I ordered the filet mignon potstickers as an appetizer to start and it was an amazing choice. They had the right crunch, the proportions were on point and was reasonably priced. For a cocktail I ordered the Blackberry Peppercorn Smash. The flavors of bourbon , blackberry, lemon and mint blended well together, I almost ordered another. For my main entree, I ordered a 8 oz filet mignon cooked well, with roasted garlic mash on the side. The filet was juicy and tender, with the mash potatoes being paired made it a perfect meal. I would come back again and try other menu items. The waiter provided a lot of recommendations, so I'm looking forward to it.
We had the most epic dinner here tonight. Jade was our server and she was on point with everything. They started us with some delicious sourdough bread with some paprika and other spices and whipped butter. We had the the Rockefeller oysters for appetizers and for our main course, we had the Cowboy steak and lobster combo with truffle parmesan fries and bacon brussel sprouts. I even made room for dessert which was a luscious carrot cake. Everything was delicious!!! Service was A+++ Plus. Highly recommend!
Our son was visiting us this Xmas week and as he has visited at Eddie before, we decided for Friday's meal to visit. We requested a table and were seated promptly. Cassandra was our server and she gets a 5 star for being attentive, great suggestions and just excellent. Patrick was not around as he usually stops by for me to personally thank Cassandra. Stated with barbecue shrimp (excellent) and crab cakes (ordered 1 extra) for appetizers (excellent) For the main course Cassandra suggested The island Cedar Salmon and it was a superb choice (it's a big fish). My son decided for the first time to Prime NY strip. He has had other choices. Here he was disappointed as he felt it had little to no flavor. We passed on our comments to our server. For dessert we had our usual Vanilla Cognac Brownie. An excellent visit except for the steak.
Great menu choice of the 3 medallions! I think one had a blue cheese topping on it which was very interesting but it was still great. Second was Oscar style - mashed potatoes tasted great as well. The seafood bisque was also AMAZING. 10/10 definitely get this if you come here. Old fashion was good but next time I would probably pair with a nice glass of red wine. Server was absolutely fantastic! Classy atmosphere but it does give me a little bit of a Cheesecake Factory vibe. it's a chain restaurant though so that's expected. I would suggest dimming the lights a bit and adding more candles. Overall very great and I would not be opposed to coming back. Menu was on the pricer side but it wasn't terrible. My 3 medallions were about $90.
Wow wow wow! I can't believe it took me nine years to try this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, Patrick greeted us and was so very kind! He thanked us so much for coming in and seated us very quickly! I was under the impression this place was insanely expensive, but it was a total misunderstanding because the prices were not anything crazy AT ALL! We got the best appetizer ever. It was the filet mignon, potstickers! They were so juicy and fresh and tender! Raff did a fantastic job with recommendations, and I ended up with the Wagyu prime rib, which was so incredible and flavorful! My wife and son also truly enjoyed their visit. Raff is very attentive to our needs and requests, kind with a nice smile, and so courteous always looking for ways to make our experience even better! We will definitely be back very soon!
